-Every student can learn
-Every student can improve
-All students can achieve their best
I went through lots of schooling in math and science (B.S. and Ph.D. in engineering from University of Southern California and University of Minnesota, California single subject teaching credentials in math, physics, chemistry from San Jose State University).
Obviously I took many quizzes and exams along the way. I proudly say that as far as results are concerned, I have always been one of the top achievers in all kinds of written tests. Certainly hard work was a part of my test taking successes, but equally important was my method of study and test preparation. I am now eager to transfer my proven method to you.
After a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and a successful and exciting career in engineering and management in the high tech industry, including a six and a half years special assignment in Asia, I tried out high school teaching. I took education classes at San Jose State University and got my California teaching credentials in math, physics, and chemistry in 2008. I taught math at Gilroy high school for the school year 2008-2009. Before that I served as a long-term substitute teacher at Pioneer high school, San Jose (chemistry, spring 2007), and Leland high school, San Jose (physics, spring 2008). While these lines are written, I have a brand new career in the volatile field of real estate.
During the several years as a high school teacher, I was hoping to transfer my test taking skills to all of my students. I concluded that the best way for me to help students improve in academic performance and test taking is one-on-one or small group instruction. That was my motivation for signing up as a tutor.
There is no reason to suffer through school and exams. With the right approach studying can be fun, and test taking can be rewarding. Let’s work together to make all this happen!
Everyone of us is unique. Every student is unique. This is known to all teachers, but the classroom format of education makes it impossible to maximize the unique potentials of each student.
The tutor, on the other hand, has the freedom to maximize each student's performance based on his or her unique abilities. But in order to do this the tutor must first identify these unique abilities on a case by case basis.
This identification process is an engineering procedure; and I am proud to say that it has been my formula of success even in cases where the tutor(s) who came before me had failed.
