My Favorite Quotes "An eye for an eye, the whole world goes blind" Gandhi "Don't do to others what you don't want others do to you!" Confucius “The theory of probability is in a very unsatisfactory state, both logically and mathematically; and I do not believe that there is any alchemy by which it can produce regularity in large numbers out of pure caprice in each single case. If the penny really chose by caprice whether to fall heads or tails, have we any reason to say that it would choose one about as often as the other? Might not caprice lead just as well always to the same choice?” Bertrand Russell (Religion and Science, 1935) |
Thinh Tran's Home Hi, My name is Thinh Van Tran, my pen name is DangSon. I am an independent researcher. I invite you to read the following articles: 1. "Logic for the End of Probability" 2. "The Space-Time Foundation of Quantum Physics" (Posted 9/21/2002) 3. "The Resolution Limits of Space and Time" 4. "Resolution Limits and the Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle" More about me: I was born in 1953. I attended University of Southern California, Los Angeles (BS in Chemical Engineering 1976) and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering 1981, thesis on fluid and particle dynamics). I worked in the semiconductor industry from 1981 to 2002 in various technical and management positions. It was the extensive exposure to probability at work that led me to the conclusion that the shaky foundation of probability is the main cause of all of the reported "weirdness" of quantum physics. I believe common-sense is all it takes to bring everything back to normal. SYMMETRY AND THE END OF PROBABILITY is priced at US$15. You can buy it at Amazon.com. I'm working on a second edition focused on quantum physics. Due to unforeseen delays, this is now planned for release in 2005.
